What is the best software for video making and editing?

i just want to know what you think is the best software for making and editing  video

well i use imovie as its very easy to use and works great you can only get it on mac osx but it dose come free when you buy an mac. you could use windows movie maker witch is an good free program that comes with xp ect if you are on vista or windows 7 then windows live movie maker  can be found here

if your using Liunx then avidemux is good but of course there are many others on Liunx

sony vegas a good one for windows users

 

one other great video editor for mac osx is final cut pro but that is for real heavy movie editors can be found here

there are an lot off others by the are the ones i feel are best for most people

 

but i just tend to use  imovie for all my videos
